Higher Education
- Albany Business College (now Bryant & Stratton): handled marketing communications, recruitment materials development and visibility campaigns for Albany Business College for nine years; then retained by the new owners, Bryant & Stratton, to continue communications counsel during the transition.
- Albany College of Pharmacy: provided an assessment of marketing communications, media relations, community relations and publications efforts, including community survey of perceptions of the college; introduced new president Dr. James Gozzo to the community and key opinion leaders; developed strategies for student recruitment, corporate outreach and government relations.
- Albany Law School: initiated a communications assessment program and developed strategic communications planning and positioning. Provided marketing communications/public affairs support for institutional advancement and fundraising; conducted media relations; produced an alumni magazine; created marketing communications materials for the law school's Government Law Center; provided community outreach and communications counsel to the Dean and key executives.
- Empire State College: developed a program of community awareness of the college among key constituencies; marketed "distant learning" messages; edited and promoted a study, "A Nation of Lifelong Learners," that was introduced at a major conference in Washington hosted by Vice President Gore and the Communications Workers of America. Also handled media relations and outreach for the introduction of Dr. Jane Altes as interim president of the college.
- Excelsior College (formerly Regents College): maintained an ongoing program of marketing communications, government relations, media relations and communications counsel. This includes telling the Excelsior story through newspaper, magazine and television feature stories, media training for college executives, community relations and related activities.
- Hudson Valley Community College: orchestrated a strategic communications process to enhance the college's transition under new president John Buono; provided marketing and messaging counsel and services, and industry outreach to select groups; developed a marketing plan for a new Workforce Institute; provided media relations, community relations and institutional positioning counsel.
- Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute: developed a variety of communications projects, including design services for major funding grants, editorial services for the university president and communications counsel for community projects.
- The Sage Colleges: developed a program of messaging and institutional positioning; provided communications strategy, including community networking, media relations and government relations; created the Media and Public Policy roundtable series; provided marketing communications, crisis communications and publications support. Also directed several advertising campaigns.
- Rockefeller Institute of Government: produced videos and provided national media relations for launching a national study of government reform; provided a media campaign for a study of New York state's park system and other projects.
- State University College at Oneonta: created a comprehensive media relations campaign and provided communications counsel for the president to raise visibility and awareness about the college and its special programs. This included a focused media plan, feature articles in newspapers across Upstate New York and across the United States; media training for college department heads, opinion articles and related activities. Also provided community relations outreach targeted at state decision-makers in Albany.
- University at Albany: provided a comprehensive communications planning and strategy program connected with Dr. Karen Hitchcock's becoming the University's new president. This included conducting an internal and external communications audit and community survey of perceptions of the University, developing and facilitating strategic communications planning sessions, creating an overall plan with key objectives, messages, audiences and outcomes.
- School of Education, University at Albany: provided, for more than eight years, marketing communications and positioning counsel, editorial services, media relations, promotion of the school's 140th anniversary, public relations services for projects such as the Center for Writing and Literacy, "Reading, Writing and Civic Literacy: New Directions in Educational Policy Connecting Reading, Literature Writing and Civic Literacy to Academic Achievement," The Golub Corporation Seminar on Excellence in Education, and SUNY/Albany Outstanding Teacher Awards, among others.
- State University of New York: provided major speechwriting for the chancellor on issues such as the university of tomorrow, economic development, research and the modern university; media relations; communications strategy; events support.
Education Organizations
- New York State Education Department: handled a variety of special projects including a series of profiles of the "Outstanding Teachers of the Year" for publications throughout New York state.
- New York State United Teachers (NYSUT): provided coalition-building and communications counsel for a statewide schools program; wrote, edited and designed several publications; helped develop the policy paper, "The New York Report-A Blueprint for Learning and Teaching: Report of the Commissioner's Task Force on the Teaching Profession," working with more than 30 education experts.
- United University Professions (UUP): worked with UUP's Task Force on Teacher Education to produce its report and program; conceived and developed a roundtable on the future of public higher education in New York, which featured business leaders, state legislators, top university officials and representatives of community organizations; prepared an organizational history for its 25th anniversary.
- Teachers Centers of New York State: developed a "branding" program, wrote and placed opinion articles; provided public relations and public affairs strategy for legislative and government support; presented media training for key members.
Secondary, Primary Education
- Albany Academy: developed a major marketing campaign with extensive quantitative and qualitative research, message development, brand awareness, advertising, public relations and other initiatives.
- Albany Academy for Girls: handled a full range of communications strategy, positioning programs, media relations, community relations and publication counsel/services to the independent school for five years, including its 175th anniversary celebration.
- Albany's "I Have a Dream" program: introduced this project at Albany's Arbor Hill Elementary School, working with the Albany city schools, the Governor's office, the media, University at Albany, the sponsors (the Yulman family), teachers, students and their families. Developed messages, organized media relations and coordinated events.
- Albany Occupational Center: provided marketing counsel and production (research, writing, design and printing) of publications, including "When You're Ready for The Real World."
- Capital Region School and Business Alliance: coordinated introductory campaign to launch the local SABA, worked with the superintendent of schools, NYS Economic Development Commissioner, the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and participating businesses.
- Emma Willard School: provided marketing communications and media support for its Children's School, admissions enhancement and other programs.
- Greater Capital Region Teacher Center: provided editorial services in support of communications and grant proposal efforts by this regional organization for teachers; designed and executed a successful year-long media relations campaign to increase the center's visibility; produced the center's brochure.
- Golub Scholar Recognition Program: provided creative services and media relations for the annual dinner and recognition of leading student-scholars and teachers in an eight-county region.
- Nutrition Consortium of New York State: developed a statewide campaign to raise awareness of, and school participation in, the School Breakfast program; joint projects with Matilda Cuomo's mentoring program.
- Rensselaer-Columbia-Greene Counties Board of Cooperative Educational Services (Questar III): developed and implemented multi-faceted internal and external communications program to re-brand the organization as Questar III; provided message development counsel; produced annual reports and budget materials; conducted feature story media campaign; helped image-development effort linked to budget vote; produced "The Catalog of Shared Opportunities" guide; provided crisis communications and marketing counsel.
- St. Louis School District: conducted a successful national media campaign on the department's Summer Law Internship Program, including development and design of press materials, which resulted in several significant placements in national publications.
- Among other independent schools the firm has served are Doane Stuart School, North Country School in Lake Placid, Walden School in Manhattan and Old Westbury School on Long Island.
