Sawchuk Brown Associates has experience in working with regional economic development issues and projects as well as real estate-related clients.
- Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce: developed a media relations strategy to announce a fund for small business loans; developed communications projects on solid waste, transportation, employment and other economic development issues. SBA has been an instrumental partner in development of Tech Valley branding, the annual Tech Valley Summit and Tech Valley web site.
- Albany County Board of Realtors: developed the Affordability Index, issues management, media relations, publications, introduction of a regional Multiple Listing Service for Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties.
- Albany International: introduced its new manufacturing facility in East Greenbush, its new corporate headquarters in Menands, and developed materials to explain why the company is expanding in this area.
- Albany Parking Authority: The authority wanted to find a unique way to attract downtown Albany drivers to park in the Quackenbush Square Garage on Broadway. SBA arranged and planned a press conference for the opening of the new garage and handled all media relations, created and designed marketing banners and arranged for antique cars to be shown at the event.
- Arsenal Business & Technology Partnership, which markets and manages the unused manufacturing space on the Watervliet Arsenal site: planned and executed a strategic media campaign to help the arsenal raise awareness of its potential as a site for economic development opportunities.
- Center for Economic Growth (CEG): introduced the center as a regional economic development entity and its first major fundraising effort; consulted on a CEG video and publication; media relations; introduction of the International Trade Council; support for hosting New York City-based foreign trade representatives.
- Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC): developed a newsletter to update members on the efforts of DCEDC.
- KeyBank of New York, organization of U.S.-Canadian trade seminars: provided communications around affordable housing and the Community Reinvestment Act, presentations on commercial lending, media training for addressing economic development issues, research on NAFTA's impact on New York business.
- KeyCorp: researched and developed presentations on regionalization and economic issues for the chairman and other executives.
- Marvin & Co.: helped develop and communicate findings of the "Annual Business Survey" of chambers of commerce members in Albany, Columbia, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties.
- Matthew Bender & Co.: worked on locating a new distribution center near Binghamton, interacting with the Broome County IDA; prepared media materials.
- New York State Department of Economic Development (NYSDED): created Manufacturing New York, a publication of the Industrial Effectiveness Program distributed to 20,000 companies in New York State. For DED's international initiatives, provided communications counsel for missions to Europe and Japan. We also developed a network of contacts in business, academia, state and local government with expertise in quality, manufacturing and industrial competitiveness.
- Oak-Mitsui, Inc., a company that manufactures specialty copper foils used in electronics: provided government relations; media relations; materials development, including talking points, graphs, fact sheet, stakeholder list and Q&A briefings for use during discussions with media.
- Port of Albany: executed regional and national media relations (Journal of Commerce, Wall Street Journal, World Trade magazine, etc.) promoting inland ports and access to Northeast markets.
- Rensselaer County IDA: developed programs to define local economic development and IDAs; media relations; development of a newsletter; other editorial services.
- Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce: provided counsel and media relations, and wrote remarks for the chamber's Annual Dinner for Linda Hillman and Mary Martinez.
- Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority: provided media and communications support; government relations; events planning associated with the revitalization of downtown Schenectady. Also developed a crisis communication plan relating to the construction and renovation of the Canal Square
- Team Hudson Valley and Hudson Valley Magazine: developed a multi-page advertorial insert on economic development in the Hudson Valley.
- The Michaels Group: developed public relations and marketing strategies; prepared presentations on local real estate issues (responsible growth policies, building moratoriums, impact fees, etc.).
- The Picotte Companies, Sawchuk Brown's first client in 1979, is still one of its major clients. Through the years, SBA has provided media relations and communications for the Corporate Woods office park and other properties. SBA also has prepared materials for tenant recruitment; researched and written articles for national real estate publications; positioned Corporate Woods as a leader in development, fiber optics, environmentally conscious office parks; and created Developments, Picotte's quarterly newsletter for tenants in its Capital Region buildings.
- Shannon & Lutz-Kossow of Washington, D.C.: introduction of Broadway Center, downtown Schenectady's new office complex. Special promotions for brokers, media relations, monitored local issues for the developer.
- Sterling Winthrop Inc.: analyzed economic development data, developed communications materials for relocation to Pennsylvania, consulted regarding environmental issues, introduced new Sterling Organics facility.
- Troy 2020, a 20-year plan developed to stimulate economic vitality, develop infrastructure and improve quality of life in the city of Troy: created and developed marketing strategies to build the image of Troy; wrote opinion articles for Capital Region media about Historic Troy 2020.
- Vulcan Development: provided communications consultation for launching the River Triangle renovation project in Troy, Historic Arbor Hill in Albany and other projects.
